Well, a year and a half after Steve Jobs wrote his famous open letter to Adobe on why the iPhone will not be handling Flash, comes the news from sources close to Adobe that they will be canning Flash, in favour of HTML5 for it’s mobile platform, according to ZDNet.

Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer adapt Flash Player continue to support the current Android and PlayBook configurations with critical bug fixes and security updates.

So Steve will be grinning from heaven, knowing that his prophecies continue to come true. So as for Adobe, they will be stopping development on flash players for mobile devices and will instead be focusing on expressive content for desktop (with and without browsers) and investing in HTML5, what Apple was and is still advocating.
